I suppose I've had these feelings for some time now and I almost feel ridiculous for blogging about them.
The thing is I enjoy a lot music and some literature but it is an entirely one-way exchange. I have been listening to this a lot lately:
and please you listen to it too! and then I saw them last thursday and it was extremely amazing.
I want and need to create something myself but I just don't. I'm not a talented musician and I just have a hard time putting myself out there in terms of writing and singing. And sometimes I don't even want to try because of how great the things I listen to are. Like there's not even any point.
I'm pretty sure this thinking is flawed though. Regardless, it is an amazing release to write and make music.
Is creativity something that can be learned? or do we have it and its just a matter of bringing it to the surface? I'm not even really sure what I'm saying or trying to say.

This is an interesting thought Mike. I personally think that creativity is something that can be learned. I think by continually being stimulated by art or writing and music it is easier to hone in on your own personal talents for such. While not to confuse what I'm saying with imitation, I think a person's personal preferences to certain arts are reflections of their personality. There are generally people who like contemporary art and those who don't or who like romantic literature and those who don't. Those preference say something about that person. I think creativity works in such a way where people have a disposition to be creative in some sort of way, and not in others. I think this is the difference between "learning" creativity which seems akin to imitation in some respects, and original creativity. However, creativity is a subjective term that is often hard to define. In grade school creativity I think is often replaced with imitation. A student is deemed creative because of their ability to create a realistic painting. In other instances, creativity seems to be a qualifier that emphasizes a person's dissimilarities with other art.... What do you think?
